Medicaid keeps New Hampshire healthy—let’s keep Medicaid strong.

On behalf of our members, NHNPA is a proud member of the NH Medicaid Matters Coalition, a partnership of 80+ health-care and community organizations united against unprecedented state and federal cuts to Medicaid. We’re urging lawmakers to reject provisions that would:

• Add burdensome premiums & work requirements
• Slash provider taxes that keep rural clinics and hospitals open
• Force constant redeterminations, putting 187,000 Granite Staters—half of them children—at risk of losing coverage

SB 252 is now law,

In 2025, NHNPA ensured that APRNs weren’t left behind. SB 252, now law, allows APRNs, Physicians, and PAs to prescribe Schedule II–IV opioids (and non-opioids) via telemedicine, decreasing barriers to care for Granite Staters. Initially, this bill did not include APRNs or PAs. NHNPA recognized the oversight, drafted a key amendment to expand the bill to APRNs, testified alongside the PA Society, and kept the bill moving until Governor Ayotte’s signature. #NHleg #APRNsLead #WorkforceFreedom #Telehealth #OpioidSafety #NHNPAAtWorkForAPRNs

SB 172 is LAW!

Non-compete clauses are now banned for NH APRNs.

NHNPA flagged the gap, teamed with Sen. Sue Prentiss, hand-delivered letters to every Senator, and flipped a “re-refer” recommendation from the Senate Finance Committee. Both chambers then gave the bill a UNANIMOUS YES, and Gov. Ayotte’s June signature now protects patient access and APRN career mobility.

Access to care through Medicaid

Found a perfectly placed picnic table today to use as a desk as I collated materials from NHNPA members Looking forward to meeting Senate staffers this afternoon and delivering these important messages. NH’s APRNs see firsthand how access to care through Medicaid leads to engaged and empowered patients, healthier lives, and a stronger, more cost-effective healthcare system - and a healthier NH for all! Did you know that about 13% of Granite Staters are enrolled in Medicaid?

Medicaid Storytelling Hour

Join this virtual community gathering to share what Medicaid means to you and your family. Whether you receive benefits, support someone who does, or care about community health, your experience highlights the human impact behind current policy debates and reminds us why protecting Medicaid is essential in New Hampshire.

Date: Wednesday, May 14 | Time: 7 pm | Location: Zoom

Call for Action

House Bill 524 would end our state's current system for providing access to vaccines for children. Currently, insurance companies pay into a central fund (run by the NH Vaccine Association), which helps purchase vaccines for all children in the state at a 30 percent discount. Without the NHVA, providers and organizations would have to buy immunizations upfront at full price, administer the vaccine, and then bill insurance companies for reimbursement. Families with private insurance would likely be required to pay for all or some of the vaccines, depending on co-insurance and co-pays.
