Call for Action

House Bill 524 would end our state's current system for providing access to vaccines for children. Currently, insurance companies pay into a central fund (run by the NH Vaccine Association), which helps purchase vaccines for all children in the state at a 30 percent discount. Without the NHVA, providers and organizations would have to buy immunizations upfront at full price, administer the vaccine, and then bill insurance companies for reimbursement. Families with private insurance would likely be required to pay for all or some of the vaccines, depending on co-insurance and co-pays.

Please take a couple of minutes to email or call your elected officials. You can find your representative by clicking here. Search for your town, find your representatives, and click on their names in blue to obtain additional information (ie. phone number).

Regardless of the format you choose, make sure to tell the representatives what town you live in! Please consider the time of day if you are making a phone call, as the representatives have provided their personal numbers.

This bill will destroy New Hampshire's current system of providing no-cost vaccinations to families who want them by repealing the New Hampshire Vaccine Association.

  • Passing HB 524 will make it harder for families to access vaccines, which are our state's best protection against deadly and infectious diseases.
  • The NHVA does not set vaccine policy, it has nothing to do with determining what vaccines or doses are on the Vaccine For Children schedule, and it does not mandate vaccines or limit parent choice.
  • Provider offices would have to manage their own inventory and bill insurance companies at full price.
  • Families would likely be required to pay a portion through co-pays and co-insurance. HB 524 adds unnecessary cost barriers for both families and doctors' offices.

Thank you for enhancing NHNPA's voice on this important issue.
